Salasilah Keluarga Dengan Kesultanan Johor

So how am I related to the Johor Sultanate (also inter-related to Riau-Lingga Sultanate, shown by the yellow coloured fonts, later in this blog)? I'll try to explain in a very simple manner using the above diagram.

Its started from H.H Sri Paduka Dato'Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Daing Abdul Rahman, Maharaja Johor, younger son of H.H Dato' Paduka Temenggong Sri Maharaja Daing Abdul Rahman bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Abdul Hamid.

H.H Sri Paduka Dato'Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Daing Abdul Rahman, Maharaja Johor married (m.)first Encik Ngah, m.second Engku Long Muda, m.third H.H. Tengku Andak binti al-Marhum Sultan Abdul Rahman Muadzam Shah, 3rd daughter of H.H. Paduka Sultan Abdul Rahman ibni al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Shah, the 1st Sultan of Riau-Lingga and its dependencies. Having had issue 7 sons and 5 daughters:

1) H.H.Sultan Sir Abu Bakar ibni al-Marhum Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim (20th Sultan of Johor)
2) Y.M Ungku Muhammad bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
3) Y.M Ungku Ibrahim bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
4) Y.M Ungku Abdul Rahman bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
5) Y.M Ungku Abdullah bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
6) Y.M Ungku Abdul Majid bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
7) Y.M Ungku Muhammad Khalid bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim

My linkage to the Johor Sultanate started from Y.M Ungku Muhammad Khalid, the youngest son of Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim,

Y.M Ungku Muhammad Khalid bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim
, having had issue 5 sons and 3 daughters:

1) Y.M Ungku Ismail bin Ungku Muhammad Khalid, having had issue 3 sons and 3 daughters. One of the daughters, Ungku Khadijah binti Ungku Ismail (is my grandmother), m. Y.M Tengku Ali bin Tengku Mahmud (my grandfather), the grandson of Y.A.M Tengku Usman Embung ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Muadzam Shah,of Riau-Lingga.

2) Y.M Ungku Ahmad bin Ungku Muhammad Khalid, one of his daughters, Ungku Tun Aminah m. H.H. Sultan Ismail ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ibrahim, the 22nd Sultan of Johor, she was granted the title Sultanah - Sultanah Tun Aminah.

3) Y.M Muhammad bin Ungku Muhammad Khalid

4) Y.M Ibrahim bin Ungku Muhammad Khalid

5) Y.M Sulaiman bin Ungku Muhammad Khalid

6) Y.M Ungku Maimunah binti Ungku Muhammad Khalid (Ungku Embi), m. Y.M Tengku Mahmud bin Tengku Usman Embung ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Muadzam Shah, of Riau-Lingga, by his wife,Y.M Ungku Fatimah binti Ungku Daud, elder daughter of Y.M Ungku Daud bin Tun Haji Abdullah bin Dato' Temenggong Sri Maharaja Daing Abdul Rahman. Having had issue, 5 sons:

  • Y.M Tengku Abdul Rahman bin Tengku Mahmud
  • Y.M Tengku Abdul Jalil bin Tengku Mahmud
  • Y.M Tengku Omar bin Tengku Mahmud (died young)
  • Y.M Tengku Ali bin Tengku Mahmud (my grandfather)
  • Y.M Tengku Sulaiman bin Tengku Mahmud
7) Y.M Ungku Emas binti Ungku Muhammad Khalid, m. Y.A.M Tengku Umar ibni al-Marhum Sultan Abdul Rahman Muadzam Shah, the son of H.H Sultan Abdul Rahman Muadzam Shah II ibni al-Marhum Raja Muhammad Yusuf al-Mahdi, the last Sultan of Riau-Lingga and its dependencies.

8) Y.M Ungku Halimah binti Ungku Muhammad Khalid

We all ni bolehlah dikatakan 'Keluarga 69', pusing-pusing, tang tu jugak.....
Both royal families of Johor and Riau-Lingga were actually very closed through marriage.
My grandfather Tengku Ali, my grandmother Ungku Khadijah, Sultanah Aminah and Sultan Ismail were all the closest examples of inter-marriages among cousins and families.

So nak jadikan cerita...my late ayahanda Ungku Hassan and Y.A.M Sultan Mahmud Iskandar ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ismail are cousins (kalau orang Melayu - pangkat dua pupulah).

What ever it is...I'm proud to be one of the heirs of Johor and the last Riau-Lingga Sultanates.
Inilah asal usul keturunanku......

Down memory lane: My family with Tuanku Sultan Mahmud Iskandar,
